From our President…….
Hope you're all staying warm these cold winter days.
I'm enjoying some hand quilting - since I quilt without a frame
it feels good to have a quilt on my lap.

Some of us enjoyed the The Quilting and Needle Art Extravaganza
in Statesville. Lots of beautiful things to tempt us.
Hope you get to attend some of the area quilt shows this year.
Two new shows this year - in Charlotte and Chattanooga.
The Hampton, Virginia show is in March - I was there a couple
of years ago and it was a great show. The Forsyth Piecers and Quilters
Show is coming up in May - and of course our own quilt show is this fall -
are you working on some quilts to enter?

Our February program sounds really interesting - here is her website: www.fiber-visions.com. Invite your friends to come with you
to see Joanna's beautiful silk creations.

Thank you so much to all of you for all you do to support our quilt guild.
If you have ideas or comments please let me know. You can call or
email me anytime: 940-2812 or 414-8700 or bhanes@yadtel.net.

February 17 Program
We’re excited to have Joanna White as our guest for the February guild meeting. She has been working in a large studio in an airport hanger at Sugar Valley Airport and creating some absolutely stunning silk fabrics. The guild is interested in seeing the methods she uses to bring the silk to life. Joanna will be doing a demonstration of her silk painting techniques along with showing examples of her work. She commissions unique and beautiful garments from the silk she paints, but we are going to be looking at the application of quilting with silk. This will be a new idea to many of the quilters and quite a challenge to try the techniques necessary to make a quilted item using silk.

Looking ahead…….
Our March program will be presented by Lorraine Covington, a local quilt judge.            I’m sure she will have lots of great tips for preparing and showing our quilts.

Patti Knoechel will be coming back again for our April meeting. Many quilters and surrounding guilds look forward to her visit each year for new patterns and books from Eleanor Burns. Note that this month’s meeting is scheduled for April 7 —not our regular meeting date.
